BATForce Transition Project

Strengthening Confident, Connected School Transitions

A flexible, strengths-based framework supporting students, families and schools across key transition points.

The BATForce Transition Project (BTP) supports schools to strengthen student transition, wellbeing and engagement through practical workshops and programs, family connection and whole-school capacity building.

Transitions happen at multiple points across the school journey — and they shape more than just the first few weeks. They influence confidence, connection and engagement for students, families and school communities.

The BATForce Transition Project is a new two-year initiative funded by the Victorian State Government launching in 2026. It is a flexible, evidence-informed framework designed to strengthen how transitions are understood and supported.

The BATForce Transition Project brings together what we’ve learnt from 27 years of delivering School Focused Youth Services and 18 years of delivering student, parent/carer workshops and professional development in schools and across community.

We aim to build the capacity of schools, families and young people at key transition points by bringing together early support, family engagement, student wellbeing and school capability to strengthen transitions before challenges escalate.

Rather than a one-size-fits-all program, BTP works alongside schools to build consistent, strengths-based approaches that respond to the needs of each community.

The BATForce Transition Project is a flexible model designed to support schools at different stages of their transition journey.

What is BTP?

The BATForce Transition Project (BTP) is a flexible, evidence-informed transition framework designed to support:

  • Build student confidence during key transition points
  • Strengthen connection between school, home and community
  • Support more consistent, whole-school approaches
  • Respond early, before challenges escalate

Who is it for?

The BATForce Transition Project supports the whole school community:

  • School leaders looking to strengthen transition practices across their setting
  • Wellbeing teams supporting students through change and uncertainty
  • Young People’s transition confidence
  • Families navigating transition alongside their young person

How does it work?

The BATForce Transition Project is designed to be flexible and scalable.

Schools can engage in ways that suit their context — from targeted support through to broader, whole-school approaches.

This ensures the work is practical, relevant and sustainable within each setting.

How can I access the project?

The BATForce Transition Project is available to all schools across the Barwon region.

  • Priority schools selected by the Department of Education participate free of charge
  • Government schools in the BATForce Barwon region may be subsidised by the Department of Education
  • Available to all schools via a flexible engagement fee-for-service model

We welcome conversations with any school interested in strengthening how transitions are supported within their community.

Why does this project matter?

Across our work with schools and communities, we consistently see that:

  • Transitions are supported, but not always consistently
  • Families and schools are often working hard, but not always in alignment
  • Students can experience uncertainty at key points of change

What’s often missing isn’t effort — it’s a shared approach.

BTP brings this together, helping school communities move from isolated responses to a more connected and consistent way of supporting transitions.

What hasn’t changed

BATForce’s established fee-for-service workshop programs continue to be available to all schools and community organisations, including:

  • Digital Tattoo
  • Ready to Launch Transition
  • Creating Conversations Around ‘Put Down’ Language
  • Vaping
  • Tools to Launch
  • Other wellbeing and transition workshops

Not sure which pathway fits?

That’s okay — many schools combine pathways or start small and build over time.

We’ll work with you to:

  • Understand your school context
  • Identify transition pressure points
  • Design a pathway that fits your students and families

Let’s find the right starting point for your school

If your school is thinking about how to better support students, families and staff through transition, we’d love to connect
