BATForce has been delivering workshops to students, teachers and families across the region since 2008 with a particular focus on strengthening school-family partnerships.
This work has always been responsive to need and continues to bend and flex depending on both the needs of the community as well as feedback and evaluation along the way. BATForce understands that environments vary and where possible aims to accommodate the unique needs of the community, we will work with schools and communities to identify specific issues and modify topics accordingly.

The Creating Conversations Addressing ‘Put Down’ Language workshops explores the online world where people are prepared to say and do anything to be heard. Young People are being caught up in this messaging (as are many adults) and this is creating confusion and in some instances harm as ‘put down’ language makes it into our communities and school grounds.
This type of language can be as broad as racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and in more recent times genderization and misogyny. The workshops are based on creating connection and redirection not policing the language and behaviours.
Topic Options:
- Creating connection
- Boundary setting without policing
- Importance of being inquisitive and compassionate
- Strategies for supporting and correcting

School years are the reminder that our Young People are on their ‘not their yet’ journey. Young people are still finding their way — and schools and families play an important role in guiding that journey.
BATForce will deliver two targeted Diversion Workshops designed to support students who have come to the attention of their school due to:
- Online risk-taking behaviours
- Risk-taking behaviours with vaping and/or nicotine-based product use
These workshops align with healthy relationships messaging and explore the ‘risk – consequence – regret’ framework to build insight, responsibility and better decision-making.
Workshop Format:
- Two x 60-minute online sessions
- Delivered three weeks apart
- Small group, deeper-dive format
- Designed as an alternative to suspension or expulsion
- Attendance must be voluntary
- Students attend with a parent/carer, or as part of a small school-supported group
