Tools to Transition Project
Tools to Transition Project Outline
The Tools to Transition project worked with five primary schools – one small, three medium size and one large. The locations were spread across Geelong and the Surf Coast area.
Each school was supported by five on-site elements:
- Whole Year Level Student Workshops
- Small Group Workshops Capturing Student Voice
- Parent/Carer Workshops
- Teacher Professional Development Sessions
- A Selected Small Group Student Intervention
These elements aimed to:
- build connection with school
- increase school engagement
- unpack transition to secondary school anxiety
- capture the voice of students, parents/carers and teachers
This project provided us with a valuable opportunity to listen, reflect and co-design supports for each cohort. Co-design however, does not stop at any one point, it is a continual journey and leads to new ideas, further development of resources and expansion of concepts. By analyzing the Tools to Transition project BATForce continues to develop targeted resources and further expand our work based on the key themes that came through the workshops.
The Tools to Transition Report is available now.
