Vaping Prevention Project

City of Greater Geelong

City of Greater Geelong

The City of Greater Geelong led a comprehensive youth-focused vaping prevention initiative in partnership with CatholicCare and local schools.

What Was Delivered

Across two school terms, students from Northern Bay College and North Geelong Secondary College co-designed a range of creative prevention resources, including the ‘Break the Vape’ poster series and two animated videos debunking vaping myths. These were showcased at youth-led World No Tobacco Day events and linked to QR-accessible digital resources on the UNCLOUD website.

A co-designed three-part workshop series has been created to support schools in delivering vaping education.

The City established a Youth Vape Prevention Action Group, bringing together passionate local young leaders to build skills in advocacy, media engagement and facilitation through workshops with Youth Affairs Council Victoria (YACVic). The group contributed to resource development, supported the trial of vape recycling bins at the City’s two youth hubs, created promotional content highlighting environmental impacts, and collaborated with the Barwon Health Be Smokefree Clinic in Corio to film an educational support video that encourages young people to access local supports.

All resources are available free of charge to schools, local organisations and community groups to support ongoing education.
